Designed for level ground
DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuum PREMIER (Walk-Behind) is difficult to use and does not vacuum well on uneven ground. If you have a perfectly level yard, this machine may work well. When the bag is full, it becomes very hard to push on uneven ground.

Mostly great but one fatal flaw
I have reviewed twice before but feel the need to submit and updated review. This is my fourth season using this machine. For the most part I love it and find it to be very well engineered. I can clean up my yard in a fraction of the time it took raking and blowing. The mulch ratio is good and the suction, with the new improved bag, is excellent. Unfortunately, there is a significant problem in the bag design. The bag's top section is made of mesh, to allow airflow. Unfortunately, the discharge tube directs very high velocity air and leaf debris directly at this top mesh and within the first few loads, the mesh gets frayed and torn, eventually leaving a large hole where leaves and debris then blow out the bag. DR should have built in some sort of deflection at the top of the discharge tube or constructed the mesh out of something stronger, such as kevlar or steel. I am on my second bag and am in need of a third. These bags are too expensive to keep replacing. I am going to try to sew a stainless steel screen patch where the problem occurs and see if this helps.
Easier than raking!
I have been using this leaf vaccum for several years. Overall its been a good purchase. Its not perfect but definitely easier pushing this unit like a lawn mower compared to raking or other options. It has been better for my back as well. Suction is strong once you get over learning curve and figure out proper usage and height. Dry leaves are best. Wet leaves take more time but still get sucked up. Small twiggs and leaves can sometimes clog the inlet and reduce suction. There is an opening to clear out clogs. Engine seems to have enough power to handle twigs and small branches and never had it bogg down on me. The bag is nice size but the mulching ratio varies depending on how much leaves are coming through at a time. Definitely not getting what is claimed by manufacturer. More like 7 to 1 ratio. If the leaves are dry it creates a good amount of dust so mask is important. I sometimes dump leaves from bag into flower bed as mulch to save time and effort compared to bagging in trash bag.

Poor Suction
I read the reviews and understood the awkwardness of pushing the machine on a terrain other than artificial turf. But the real problem that I have with this machine, is that it lacks suction. I have held leaves in my hand to see how far up the hopper I have to raise it before it will be sucked into the chopper, and it is almost 2". This machine needs to have a revised design on improving its suction. It also stated that it will suck up acorns. I guess that's not a totally incorrect statement, but I will tell you that it will not suck up the majority of the acorns. I have operated this machine 5 times and not once have I been satisfied.

Q.1. Will the Premier model pick up smaller leaves than shown in your pictures and videos. In my case, I need to pick up live oak tree leaves which have a much smaller surface area for the vacuum to work on. 2. Is it difficult to unload leaves from the Premiers bag into a disposable plastic bag (say 40-50 gallon bag)? 3. How many gallons of mulched leaf material are in the Premier's 6 cu ft bag? Or, how many gallons of mulched leaf material are in the Premier's 60 lb bag?
A.Thank you for reaching out to us. Yes, the Leaf and Lawn Mower can pick up leaves that are smaller than the ones pictured. They just can not be embedded into the ground. It should not be too difficult to unload into a bag. The gallon measurement would be around 45 gallons for 6 cubic feet. Please note, that is not an exact measurement but a close measurement.

Q.I’m a fairly small framed woman. I’m wondering if I would be able to push the one not self propelled? I have a flat yard but lots of big oak roots to go over. Also how bad would it be if it has to be stored outside but under a covered area? Just barely covered though. Thanks!
A.Thank you for your question. It would really depend on your personal physical physical abilities. This machine weighs 200 lbs. If possible, store the machine in a dry, protected place. If it is necessary to store the machine outside, cover it with a protective material (especially the Engine and Housing).

Q.Will this work in rocky areas and compacted dirt?
A.Thank you for your question. This will suck up loose pebbles and smaller stones that are not embedded into the ground. The rocks may also wear away at the snout of the machine. The machine should work on compacted dirt.

Q.Will this machine pickup pine needles from a lawn? Is it self-propelled? Thank You.
A.Thank you for your question. If the pine needles are not embedded into the ground the machine is able to pick them up. This model is not Self Propelled.
