Problems
Love mower if it would work nothing but problems since I got it
Not bad
Arrived packaged well and unharmed, minimal assembly required. Took to a residential job the next day after receiving was pleased with the quality of cut, far superior to the competitors machine which I also have. X drive takes a few minutes to get used to, but I stuck with the configuration . Would have given five stars but within the first 24 minutes of use it threw both belts not what I expected from the top of the line brush mower. I did call customer service, which was very helpful, but was still disappointed in the fact that it threw both belts in the first 24 minutes of use and was replacing belts in a field 300 yds from the truck on a new $5000 machine.
Initial Review - Very Happy.
I have 32 acres of hilly forest, pastures, streams, wetlands, and lawns. I needed to find a solution to blazing trails to access the entire property. The pastures have not had cattle on them this year and were last bush-hogged in Fall 23. So I have 4' high brush to clear to get to the forests and then blaze trails around the property and to the streams. I originally planned on buying a Ventrac to get that done - but have been waiting for years to save up for that large purchase. Then I discovered the DR Field and Brush Mower (Commercial XD30). I own a Generac Stanby Generator, and so learned about this solution for their direct mail campaign. I received it yesterday, found it easy to set up and mastered the info in the well-written manual (English was not a second language). I then mowed about an acre in a pasture, and then alongside my 2/3 mile driveway - over rough land and multi-sloped 'steepish' hills. It was a challenge to learn how to keep the 'beast' under control, but it is doable. To quote another reviewer "we conquered all enemies in our path and left a thorny trail of destruction". So far so good for the first 2 hours of run time. I plan on using it more extensively this weekend and will update this review accordingly at a later date.
This thing is a beast
I am not very mechanical and was able to get this beast up and running with no problems. The instructions were perfect. I even had a few missing screws and support got them to me quickly. My first use took some time to understand how to control the beast fully, but once I got used it, we conquered all enemies in our path and left a thorny trail of destruction. So far so good.
So Far - So Good!
Just got to the 5hr break-in oil change. It works Great so far!!! Very pleased.

A.Thank you for your question. These should not be used on inclines over 20 degrees.

Q.What is the differences between the commercial models brush mowers and the pro models brush mowers?
A.Thank you for your question. The commercial line does not have any attachments available. They are also designed for commercial usage.

Q.Is the driven pulley designed to shear if the blades hit an immovable object like it was designed to do on older models, rather than a shear pin?
A.Thank you for your question. The blade is belt driven. When the blade encounters a solid object the belt will slip to prevent damaging the iron spindle.

Q.Which battery maintainer do you recommend and what is the model of the battery. Thanks.
A.Thank you for your question. This is a 12V 9ah battery. We would recommend a trickle charger to be used when the machine is not being used.

Q.I have a 5 acre field where I grow Christmas Trees. It will have lots of weeds and brush. It does have a lot of rocks. Would I be better off with the Field and Brush Mower or would the rocks damage the mower and would you suggest a DR Trimmer instead?
A.It would really depend on the growth in the area and your goals. Typically, tree farm owners will go with the Trimmer Mowers and get a Trim Safe Guard to protect their baby trees. If there are areas where you would like to mow everything down then the Field and Brush Mower may be a better fit. It would be beneficial to contact our Sales Department and discuss your goals and one of our agents can assist you. They can be reached at 1-800-687-6575.
