With the power of a world-class DR engine with 11.7 HP (19.6 ft-lbs gross torque*) the PRO XL Stump Grinder has the power to remove stumps up to 3 feet wide. The 3-sided tungsten carbide-tipped teeth power through the toughest wood and last 3x longer than the competition. It's the quickest and easiest way to remove troublesome stumps from your property!
Unlike the heavy, cumbersome grinders commonly available, the DR Stump Grinder is light and maneuverable, without sacrificing strength and durability. Constructed of 12-gauge steel, it is light enough to move from storage to stump and back with ease.

Simple Operation
Position the DR Stump Grinder over the stump, engage one of the wheel brakes to lock a single wheel in place before engaging the cutting head and pivoting over the stump from side to side, shaving off an inch or so of material with each pass. Reposition the machine as needed to continue removing material until the entire stump is reduced to a pile of wood chips.
Easy transport
Lugged, high-flotation tires and DR’s lightweight design rolls over rough terrain for easy transport. Large size tires (15" x 4.75") gives the machine full support and help to keep the body of the machine elevated over wood chips during operation.
Mining-grade teeth last 3x longer
The cutter head features 8, 3-sided Greenteeth® mining-grade tungsten carbide tipped steel teeth. 10 times harder than steel, tungsten carbide is often used for drilling through the toughest materials, including bedrock and each tooth can be rotated twice for added longevity.
Powerful engine
Our DR OHV engine with electric start and 11.7 HP (19.6 ft-lbs gross torque*) spins the cutting teeth at 2,800 rpm – taking 372 “bites” per second and powering through the toughest hardwood stumps up to 3 feet in diameter.
Simple hand controls
Control the wheel brakes and engine throttle right from the handlebars. Lock one wheel in place to easily pivot the machine back and forth as you grind away any stump. Unlock and reposition as needed, right from your working position.

Does the job but.....
I bought the Pro XL, was thinking about the self propelled model but there were a lot of negative comments about it not really being "self" propelled. Its average. Went together pretty easy, took a lot of messing around with the throttle cable and such to get it to work properly. The brake fell apart after the first use, the hardware fell off. Got some hardware and a few drops of loctite and got it back on. It doesn't hold the wheel locked. Have to keep adjusting it all the time. Typically while in use you have to stop get tools and tighten the brake cable again. The teeth (if carbide tipped) I would be surprised. We used it on 4 ash tree stumps 14 - 28". We went through the first turn on the teeth on 2 the teeth were burning the wood. Finished the second turn on the teeth off on the second 2. One more turn, then its 159.00. Seems a lot of wear for 4 stumps and a lot of money as they are not serviceable. Admittedly they were bigger trees but there was a statement in the advertisement about doing a 3 foot stump with ease??? Not so.. This thing is very heavy, its a back breaker. This is NOT for a senior citizen unless you are on absolutely flat perfect ground and will be grinding a 3 inch stump.

Wire Too Short
My stump grinder arrived with the wire harness TOO SHORT to reach the red terminal on my battery. I had to wait for a new wire harness and replace the old harness which was a difficult and timely task. After installing the new wire harness, my stump grinder is working well.

Works great after you figure out most efficient way to use it. Knocked out two larger stumps then multiple smaller in a couple hours. Electric start is awesome and don’t forget to add oil before using 😊 Love the green teeth better than other brand options for sure. Second DR purchase and both machines work extremely well

Q.with this machine can you also grind tree roots?
A.Thank you for your question. Yes, this is able to grind down larger tree roots. Smaller roots it would probably just rip through.
