Ideal for shaded walkways
We have a portion of sidewalk that never gets winter sun. It gets icy and stays icy. This is right outside our front door, and we don't want the mess of tracking salt into the house. Two of these heated mats completely solved our icy sidewalk problem. I love the little indicator light at the far end of the last mat in the chain. It gives proof the mat has power and is doing it's job.
A great solution for a shady sidewalk
I had a problem with a portion of my front sidewalk that never got sun. The sidewalk gets ICY and doesn't melt. I hesitated to use salt on the sidewalk as the salt gets tracked into the house. These heated mats completely solved the problem.. I would give them five stars if the Heattrak control unit included a thermostat. As it is, the control unit is a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter ) module. Heattrak.com does offer thermostat and remote control accessories.
Heated Walkway Mat
Mats were shipped quickly and packaged well. Easy installed in just a few minutes. They can be rolled up and stored when not in use. We're keeping them in place all Winter and store them in the Spring. If possible, I'll update this review in Spring.

Q.Any idea if these can handle melting 6”-1’ of snow or more in a big storm?
A.Thank you for reaching out to us. The mat will automatically turn on once the ambient temperature drops below 65 degrees Fahrenheit. So, when it starts snowing the mats will turn on and melt the snow at 2 inches per hour.

Q.I have a walkway which has a roughly 4' run, then a step, and another 4' run. Is this may flexible so that I could flex it to go down the step and cover the whole walkway with one mat?
A.Thank you for your question. We would not recommend flexing these down stairs.

Q.Can I leave a five foot gap between two mats? Do you have longer linking cords?
