Great machine, but one flaw
This tiller was purchased for a 69 year old female who loves to garden and wanted something powerful, but light and easy to start. This tiller is all of these. Only issue is that the screw and knobs holding the handles together quickly come undone and fall off with the vibrations of the machine. After 30 minutes use, I had to call customer service to get more since I had not noticed this defect and lost the parts somewhere in my garden. It has happened twice. Really a poor design on being able to lock down the screw and knobs from vibrating out and off the handles. I had to take thick rubber bands and place from the indentures in the knobs around the handle to the screw to keep the knobs from turning and coming loose with the vibrations. Some type of design change is needed. Perhaps locking washers or something is needed to keep the knobs from coming loose and falling out, otherwise a great machine. The tiller is easy to start, which is a plus. It is powerful and light. Please fix the handle problem. thanks
Very little support available for this product.
I bought this model in May 2023. It works fine, but I have run into several issues with support. First, a bolt came loose and disappeared in the dirt. It held the handles together. I tried looking up this item, but could not, as there is no parts diagram for it on their website. So I had to call, which of course meant sitting on hold for ages, with the message all customers get when they call anywhere, anymore: All our agents are busy as this is a peak call time. Your wait time is estimated at xxx minutes. Every time I have called the same message is there to greet me. IS THERE EVER A QUIETER CALL TIME? NO. So this is meant to deter customers from calling, pure and simple, otherwise they WOULD HIRE MORE CALL CENTER HELP. Today, I called to see what I need to do to make sure the transmission on this item has the proper amount and type of lubricant. We only use this about four day per year, but it gets run for hours on those days. Turns out, they CHAT center tells me I have to take it to a dealer that is over 30 miles away. It takes lithium grease, and they say a dealer has to open this up to check it, even if it may not need anything. Frankly, these are easy to open up for any mechanically inclined person with a few wrenches. This could be a 20 minute job at home, but I will have to drop it off (1 hour round trip) and pick it up later(another hour round trip). Why not have the information and lubricant available on the website?
DR mini tiller
I wasn't sure this was what I need, but after using it a couple of times, I'm sure now. It turns the soil real well. It tears It up in my older garden, and in a new spot that's never been touched. I'm very pleased.
So far , so good!
Only a month or so of ownership but very impressed with my first purchase from DR. Simple to assemble and fired right up. This little devil will run longer on a tank of gas than you will want to hang on to it! My first use was in my year old, summer baked garden. I was amazed at how well the Pilot 2C tilled the earth. It appears and works as if it is indeed well built, however only time will tell. So far, very please!
Weeds tangle in it and no easy way to undo.
This is a very lightweight machine. Can't say much good about it. It works and does a very small trench like path, but way small. Ties itself up in any small weed or grass. Don't really like it.

Q.Will this be able to rototill clay and rock in like my front yard have areas that need worked on but it’s clay
A.Thank you for your interest in the DR Pilot Mini Tiller Cultivator. It is not recommended for this kind of use. TheCultivator is designed to already worked soil. It is not designed to break new soil. It would not be powerful enough for the rocky clay soil you've described. Please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.

Q.Can I use this to break ground for a new garden?
A.It's not recommended. This cultivator is designed for already worked soil. If you wish to break new ground, consider one of our more powerful rototillers.
