Works well when it works!
We were very excited about using the Premier 36T to keep our beach volleyball courts soft and tilled for the safety of our players. As a small, youth sports club, this was a huge purchase and cost for us, but one we felt would improve our player's experience. Unfortunately, after just 3 uses (first two weeks we've had it), it's broken down several times and we've had to have mechanics work on it to get it started again. 3 times used. These are supposed to be designed to work on dirt, sand and turf. We have to replace the air filter after each use. There needs to be better engine protection and it should be much more reliable than it's been. Hopefully we will be able to find better solutions to maintaining consistent use and reduce the cost of every use. Again, we've only owned it for 3 weeks now. On a good note, when it does work, it works well an gives us a nice 6 inch turn of our sand courts.
Issues off the bat
Extremely hard to pull start. Once able to get running the belt caught on something, got roughed up and came off. The alignment of the pulleys appears to be off and the only place to take to service is closed from Hurricane Helene. I am trying to prepare beds for my flower farm and this has made things even harder then they were. I think if it would start easier and the belt was in alignment it would have run great?
Not well designed
I ordered in June of 2022. Received Feb 2023 due to a back order on parts. It took me several calls to customer service to find out why it was taking so long. I understand parts being back ordered especially on the tail end of the pandemic. I would have appreciated some communication regarding the delay. And the first time I called Cust. Serv, some should have been able to tell me what the delay was. It took 6 calls over 2 months to finally find out. I live in MN so I couldn’t try it out until April. I had it shipped to our hunting property in WI. I drove there and put it together to start tilling our food plot. There was no key in the package so I could not till that weekend. I ordered a key from Amazon, much faster than trying to go through DR customer service. I drove to WI the next weekend and brought the tiller out to the land, hooked it up to my ATV and got ready to till. I started it up and lowered the tines ( I paid $1,000 extra for the remote motorized tine raise and lower). The tines lowered to 2” above the ground. The pivot arms that the wheels are attached to hit the framework and prevent it from lowering enough. Very poor design. I then spent another week looking for an 8” drop hitch to plug into my ATV. The only ones I could find were for pickup trucks and rated for 8,000# so I had to pay $60 for a drop hitch that was way overbuilt for what I needed. Went back to Wi the next weekend and began to till. It was not tilling very good. The engine seemed to be running slow. I found that there was a throttle stop set to ~50%. I moved it to 100%. Then managed to get 3 acres tilled before the end of the day. I still need to install some metal plates or rubber flaps on the back of the tiller as it throws the dirt up behind it and lots of dirt lands on the tiller. Since it throws the dirt out and up behind it it doesn’t till very well. A hinged shroud or flap would keep the dirt in the tine area and pulverize it much better. A very frustrating experience and a very very poor design. If I find another manufacturer that makes an ATV pull behind tiller I will sell this and buy that one. Due to this experience I will not buy any more DR products.
Works well
Like the tiller it works well the only thing is once you till deep you have to drive up out of the bed on untilled ground to lift the tiller up. It’s very hard to lift the weight of the tiller in the bed.
Tiller
Product is great really turns up the soil, only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the handle to lower the unit and to turn the tines could be longer. I have a bard time reaching them otherwise I would give it 10 stars!!!!!

Q.Can a John Deere X390 pull this ?
A.If that lawn mower is between 12-14 HP then you will need to purchase drag stakes. If it is over 15 HP the lawn mower will work and nothing additional would be needed.

Q.Can the tiller be pulled by a lawn tractor with a hydro transmission?
A.Thank you for your question. Typically, lawn tractors with hydro transmissions are heavier. As long as the weight is within our recommendations then it would be compatible.

Q.Could this model be purchased or retrofitted at a later date with the 24 steel bolo tines instead of the std. 12 steel Bolo tines, if needed?
A.Thank you for your question. We do not have this option available for this model.
