Cut 50 Acres this weekend.
Awesome Machine. Wiring craftsmanship is lacking in quality installation. I would purchase this again. I spent an hour looming and securing the willy nilly wiring job from the factory.
PRO XL44T (20HP)
Used for the first time on 5/30/24 Pros: Used for 4 hours and the unit is powerful and cuts through tall grass and swallowwort without any issues. Looking forward to using it in the woods to create and maintain trails. Seems well built, time will tell. Came fully assembled and the instruction manual was clear and concise. (Except for the type of oil to use, see below.) Cons: Need to gas up the unit every two hours. It would be nice if the unit had a larger gas tank. The blade engage / disengage button is all plastic and reminds me of an E-stop on a CNC machine. Hopefully it stands the test of time. The cable for the blade engage / disengage button is short and when you corner too sharply the cable will pull out of the connector by the motor. You'll need to make nice wide gentle turns to prevent that. I'm sure with practice I'll get better at cornering. Wish the blade engage button was wireless or mounted directly on the unit. They suggest mounting the cable to the ATV with a bracket but I'm afraid it will snag on something and break. Need to figure something out there for sure. Make sure to have a replacement oil filter and oil on hand as you need to change the oil after 5 hours of use when using for the first time. Speaking of oil the DR owners manual says to use SAE 30 HD but the manual for the Briggs and Stratton motor had a chart based on temperature and gave different recommendations. It would be nice to have continuity on oil type specs. The motor manual made it seem like 5-30 full synthetic was the best choice as the other oils had warnings next though them like hard starting possible, need to change more often, etc. Summary: The unit works as designed and I'm generally pleased with my 4k investment. The cable disconnecting frequently is frustrating, but I'll design something for the ATV that works to resolve the issue.
Field &
brush mower
Throttle cable way to weak
The mower cuts well. However the throttle cable is way to weak and cannot hold the throttle in position. When you try to shift from choke to idle the throttle cable bends it is not rigid enough to move the throttle.
